Marvin Robbins, Jr., President and CEO of ASTRO COMMUNICATIONS began his career in the telecommunications industry some 30 years ago in New York City. His entry into this industry was with the New York Telephone Company. At NYT, Marvin held positions as a cable splicer, installation and repair person, sales rep., data communications technician, fiber optics and a voice and data service analyzer.
After 12 years with NYT, Marvin moved on to hold the positions of lead tech, foreman, and Assistant Vice President - Field Operations with telecom consulting companies in NYC and Massachusetts for three years. In these capacities, Marvin gained additional significant knowledge of the telecommunications and data communications industry before he decided to go out on his own.
In 1989, Marvin launched his own business, ASTRO COMMUNICATIONS in Queens, NY. ASTRO COMMUNICATIONS has focused over the years upon exceptional service, support, and competitive pricing as their core competency. Under Marvin’s watchful eye, ASTRO COMMUNICATIONS has grown steadily over the past 18 years and has served the NY tri-state area for clients such as the F.B.I, Social Security Administration, U. S. Department of Immigration, NYC Health and Hospital Corporation and a host of other public and private companies.
In 2006, Marvin opened the current ASTRO COMMUNICATIONS headquarters in the Bronx, New York and has plans to expand to other states over the next five years.
Marvin was born and raised in New York City. He and his three brothers grew up on Manhattan’s lower eastside. Marvin attended Queens College, City University of New York where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.
Marvin is the proud father of three children, two beautiful daughters and one handsome son;Marvin also has three grand children. Some of Marvin’shobbies include: basketball, sky diving, jet and water skiing traveling and many other adventurous activities. |
